2007 HAS BEEN A GREAT YEAR... AND 2008 WILL BE BETTER
Updated 12/12/2007
Number One at "Number One Music": Since he put up his page at the Number One Music (N1M) site in February, Erik Jay has ranked in the Top Five on the jazz and Latin charts. In addition, over 500 people from Russia, Italy, UK, Senegal, Ghana, Spain, Germany, Canada, Australia, Dominican Republic, France, the USA, and other countries have joined his N1M fan club. Along with other listeners, they are responsible for over 10,000 plays/downloads per month, and as of mid-December 2007, the total number is approaching 90,000!
Ritmo Still a Big Hit on MP3.com: Erik's tune Ritmo, on which he plays all instruments, is having a great run at the top music site, MP3.com. It kicked off in February with an astonishing, chart-topping, #1 performance with over 1700 downloads in a week. It has now recorded over 4900, making it one of the biggest tunes on the site's jazz charts in 2007. See mid-year chart.
Echoes from 2006 : On Saturday, 12/2/06, it was learned that Erik Jay's original tune Ritmo, on which he plays all the instruments, had been #1 for some time on the MP3.com Jazz Charts. By the time we took a screenshot, it had moved from there to #2 and then to #4. And in early October, international independent music site UBL.com honored Erik Jay as one of four Featured Artists of the Week in the Latin jazz genre, highlighting his insrumental Bendecido. As an unexpected bonus, the site managers left Erik up on the "weekly" awards page for nearly three weeks, finally updating the spot with new artists on October 20th. You can see a screenshot of the page right here.
